Testimony -Eric AKIMANA (GBU-UR-HUYE Small Groups of Bible study)

AKIMANA Eric GBU-UR-HUYE

AKIMANA Eric GBU-UR-HUYE

In his own words ERIC AKIMANA first year student, testifies that now he recognizes the change in his life due to bible studies that are held in small groups (cell)

“It was my first time to see where people can spend more than an hour studying the word of God , raising questions about what you don’t understand and people answers basing on the bible, this gave my life a new purpose led by the bible and now I know anyone can understand the bible ”

He continued saying that he can’t miss in cell’s fellowship because he is always expecting new things that God has prepared to teach him via bible study.

“Every choice I make and even a word to say now I care to know what the bible says about it, sometimes I fail to refer to the bible first but I am praying that I always remember that the only truth is the word of God”.

Testimony -Esther Dusabe (GBU-UR-Huye Small Groups of Bible Study)

Esther Dusabe GBU-UR-Huye

Esther Dusabe GBU-UR-Huye

Undoubtedly it was God’s plan that I be part of GBU and have a small group of bible study (cell).

It is a group where I have got friends that we share life and the word of GOD. I have been trained to read the bible and to lead others in sharing their insights on a passage. I always felt inferior in understanding scriptures and even shy to share what I think but through the love and humility of cell leaders, I got bold and found myself shouting and sharing with everyone.

I don’t regret being part of small group, I am so grateful instead; being in a small group helped me to work on different books like Colossians we did it 2014, acts 2015 and I Timothy 2016. it is not only a package but a foundation of my personal bible study as am leaving the campus, and it gave me skills to help others to interact with the bible too.

Testimony -MILKA (Students from Burundi CMAGRAL conference)

MILKA Students From Burundi

MILKA Students From Burundi

I thank God so much for the opportunity to be in CMAGRAL 2012 because I learnt great things.

  • From the Bible exposition of the book of Romans, I learnt simply that I have to live for the glory of God so that I may cleary understand what God wants me to do (where He wants me to go in mission).
  • I didn’t know that mission is related to persecutions, and I learnt that we will be rejected for the sake of Christ, it opened my eyes to the fact that I won’t live in a comfort zone forever as I long as I am Christian.
  • Lastly, this conference has awaken me up to “GO” and TO MAKE DISCIPLES as Jesus commanded us but I must start from where I am as a student in my campus.

Thanks, May God Bless You

Testimony -Elizabeth YAMBABARIYE (GBU-UR-Huye Ezra Conference 2010)

YAMBABARIYE Elizabeth

YAMBABARIYE Elizabeth

My names are Yambabariye Elizabeth, I am a student at the National University of Rwanda in fourth year Geography/Environment. I thank the Lord for the opportunity, attending Ezra Generation Conference. Before this conference, I was comfortable with my little knowledge about God, I got saved in 1997 and I serve as a singer in my church; Indeed I have been learning the word here and there, but in this conference, I got really challenged. I actually feel like all those years all I did was just being busy in choir programs, practices, etc. Instead of taking time to fellowship with my God and read his word. I thought, if God wants to tell me something, He will use prophets.

I didn’t know that the Bible contains all things about God and even my life. I use to read one verse without considering the context, in few words “I WAS BLIND” to the voice of God but now I am convinced that the Word of God, the BIBLE is life and I have to tell to others that amazing Word though I may suffer for it or people oppose it. With this conference I made some resolutions:

  1. Developing my fellowship with God, especially adding a quiet time in my daily schedule to pray and read the Word of God
  2. Adopt Manuscript and Inductive Bible Study in order for me to fully capture what God says
  3. As a future graduate, taking my profession as a mission and using my life to serve God
  4. Wisely changing what is not biblical that people had built up as stronghold. Eg: Relying on prophesy rather than the Word of God.
  5. Introducing Inductive Bible study in my community where I can have influence like in the choir where I sing.

Thanks!

Testimony -Faith MUTONI (GBU-UR-HUYE Healing and Reconciliation)

Mutoni-Faith-GBU-NUR-Healing-RecoveredI am Mutoni faith from GBU-NUR, healing and reconciliation department and I would like to share my testimony. I attended the 1st healing and reconciliation training on the 16th and 17th November 2011 at NUR Huye. I had been hurt by many things in my life but I couldn’t realize them until this healing and reconciliation training, but I got confused because they were talking openly without any fear and I had never seen such thing in our society. There was a lesson about ethnic groups which was hard for me to understand and another about forgiveness that touched me but I didn’t change at the time, this made me attend a second training, this time my heart changed and so did my life.

I was born in a family whom they used to say that we’re Tutsi’s, so we used to hate and abuse the ones whom we call Hutu’s and I considered everyone from that group as a killer, murderer because of what happened in our country, but from the training we learnt a topic called “Imizi yo gusharira iganisha ku bushyamirane hagati y’amatsinda y’abantu” they read for us the scripture in Mathew 7:1 said “judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you! They also showed us statistics of all groups where, I recognized that there were some Innocent and good people from Hutu and bad people from Tutsi, I released that except God’s grace anyone no matter the group can do wrong and that we are created by the same God, then I started to treat all people in the same way.

Another lesson that touched me was about forgiveness, “Imbabazi: kuzitanga no kuzisaba” I did stay with my Uncle, and my Uncle’s wife treated me harshly and my young brother, this affected my heart so much. I hated my uncle’s wife but after this lesson I forgave her as the bible says in Mathew 18:21-35 I knew that forgiveness is to forgive up to seventy times seven. I also hated my father because he left us in our Childhood. I couldn’t give him any value in my life because he didn’t care about us since our childhood but after the training I knew I had to forgive him and I am calling him my dad now, something I couldn’t say before!

Jesus said “come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Mathew 11:28 and I know now that Jesus is the one who carried my sorrows, no one can help me except Him and I know now that everything that happened to me had a reason. I praise God who is changing my life through healing and reconciliation and I know that, I have responsibility to help my family, relatives and fellow students to come out of their sorrows, Ideologies and other things which are burdening their hearts.

I thank the healing and reconciliation organizers and trainers because through this Jesus is healing hearts of Rwandans and I would like to recommend that this will also be taken to our villages because there are people with wounded hearts who surely can use such a training as I did.

May God Bless You.
