I am by the names of SHYAKA Emmy, I am in level one BBA at Nyagatare campus, I have received Jesus Christ as my lord and savior in 2009. After joining campus l had to find where my I can keep growing spiritually, then I found GBU. In GBU I found there are different programs to favor spiritual growth such as small groups of Bible study (cells), Discipleship class, and many more. But to me discipleship class surpassed them all in facilitating my spiritual growth.

Before, I use to believe that through my own good works I will earn eternal life but now I know, that no one can be justified by observing the law (Galatians: 2:16, 3:10); In my prayers I was always asking for eternal life but now I know that I have eternal life through Christ and my prayers are now for those who haven’t received Christ yet (1 Timothy: 2:4)

Today reading the Bible has become my lifestyle, whereas I use to do it only by occasion like during the preaching or for others. I also used to help poor people so that I can appear before God as righteous but now I do it because I have been saved by the grace of God to do those good works.

Joining GBU, especially the discipleship class, has changed my life’s vision and mission, I had a vision of studying until I become a very important person in this world but now I am studying, for what Jesus will command me to do, as Paul told Galatians, “I have been crucified with Christ but it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians: 2:20).

Before joining a discipleship group, I thought, pastors and Bishops are the ones in charge of spreading the Gospel but through discipleship group I have come to understand that every Christian is a disciple of Christ and is expected to spread the good news, as Paul told Romans, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to salvation”

I really thank God who brought me in GBU and I thank the GBU for the discipleship class.
